Scott Stapp of band Creed reviews "Creed" film
Scott Stapp is taking issue with Sylvester Stallone's "Creed."
The frontman of Creed, the band, hilariously and awkwardly reviews the new film, starring Michael B. Jordan as a young boxer -- the son of "Rocky's" Apollo Creed, in fact -- with Stallone reprising his iconic role as Rocky Balboa. But someone clearly didn't fill Stapp in on the plot line ahead of time. See the Funny or Die clip below.
"Finally! The epic tale of my band Creed is coming to the big screen!" Stapp begins.
"As 'Creed,' the movie, unfolded, there wasn't much that resembled what happened in Creed, the band," he continues. "This movie has a lot of boxing. One time I punched a guy from 311, but I never actually boxed."
Stapp plays along, joking that Jordan was an "interesting casting choice" to play him. "The character's name is Creed, not Scott Stapp. Sometimes when I walk down the street, people shout, 'What's up, Creed!' So I guess I get it," he deadpans.
Then the frustration sets in: "Spoiler alert! 'Creed,' the movie, has no epic guitar solos played on a mountaintop. And at no point does Creed sing on a steep cliff. That's what we do best!"
In the end though, Stapp bestows the film with a positive "four Arms Wide Open."
We're just happy to see Stapp back on his feet after last year's troubling claims of being homeless and blackmailed. In March of this year, Stapp revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was undergoing intensive therapy.
