Cops: Dad detains man attempting to rape his child, 7

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -- A 22-year-old man was arrested after police said a father saw the suspect attempting to rape his child, reports CBS affiliate WTVF.

Investigators say Sebastian Alonzo was spending the night at a home in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where the 7-year-old victim and father lived Monday, when the father caught Alonzo trying to rape the child.

The father detained Alonzo, while contacting police and waiting for them to arrive, according to authorities.

The child's condition was not available.

Alonzo was taken into custody and charged with one count of attempted rape of a child. Bond was set at $250,000. A court date was set for June 22.

Alonzo had a black eye when his booking photo was taken. It is not clear how he sustained the injury or how he was detained before police arrived.

Investigators with the Hendersonville Police Department said Alonzo had only been living in the area for three months. They did not say where he was originally from, or why he had been staying with the family.
