Cops: Pa. boy, 15, killed brother over romantic dispute
WILLIAMSTOWN, Pa. --A central Pennsylvania teen shot and killed his brother early Wednesday over a romantic dispute, police said in an affidavitobtained by CBS affiliate WHPTV.
According to the affidavit, police responded to a Williamstown home around 1:50 Wednesday morning after a 911 caller reported that a male had just killed his brother. When they responded, police say they found 18-year-old Dominick Thornton dead and 15-year-old Dakota Thornton in an adjacent apartment.
The younger brother raised his hands and said, "I shot my brother," according to police.
Later, as he was being interviewed by detectives, Dakota Thornton allegedly said he killed his brother because he was romantically interested in the brother's girlfriend. He allegedly told police he loaded a shotgun about two minutes before he used it to kill the teen.
The Dauphin County District Attorney's Office will charge the younger Thornton as an adult in the case, reports WHPTV. He's charged with one count of murder and one count of possessing an instrument of a crime with intent.
"(Dakota) gets jealous very easily, but I never thought there would be a problem over a girl with his brother," Logan Mitchell, who knew both teens, told the station. "That's...wow."
