Corrections officer accused of molesting girl at day care
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- Police in Florida say a man molested a young girl and showed her pornography while at a day care his wife operated, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.
David Darin Bugno, 49, was arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation. Bugno is a corrections officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution.
Bugno and his wife, who ran Bugno Daycare, have since divorced and the facility is no longer in business.
Investigators said they were alerted to the case in April 2015 after a girl shared the allegations with her mother. The girl, now 9 years old, said that Bugno touched her inappropriately and showed her pornographic videos when she was in day care between 2008 and 2010, according to authorities.
The girl would have been between the ages of 1 and 4 at the time, deputies said.
During an interview with the victim's mother, she told investigators she thought she could trust Bugno because of his job, officials said.
Bugno appeared in court Wednesday and was ordered held on $100,000 bond. Under Florida state law, officials are not allowed to release mugshots and booking information for law enforcement officers charged with crimes.
