Twins sought in former college basketball player's death
DURHAM, N.C. --Durham police are looking for 26-year-old twins suspected in the shooting death of a former East Carolina University basketball player early Thursday morning, reports CBS affiliate WNCN.
Ari and Jordan Shlasinger have been charged in Alexander Turner's death, but have not been taken into custody. Durham police did not release the specific charges against the twins.
Officers found Turner, 27, lying in a yard, suffering from a gunshot wound, at about 3 a.m. Thursday. Turner, a former guard for the Eastern Carolina Pirates, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Turner played in 10 games for East Carolina in the 2009-10 season, averaging 4.3 points.
Turner's step-brother Kellen Corley told WNCN that Turner had just been released from prison after serving 18 months for a 2013 robbery. Corley said he believes the shooting was payback for that incident.
Turner was shot three times, twice in the chest and once in the back, according to Corley.
