Toddler crashes Jeep, runs home to watch cartoons

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. - Police say a toddler crashed a Jeep into an Oregon home, then ran back to his own home to watch cartoons.

According to CBS affiliate KOIN, police said an officer first noticed the boy around 9 a.m., sitting unattended in a Jeep Wrangler in Myrtle Creek, Ore. After no adults came to retrieve the child for five minutes, the officer went to speak with the boy.

The station says the child told the officer that his parents weren't home and that another relative was asleep in the house. So the cop then took the boy home and woke up the relative, Brennan Pennington, 22, who was given a warning.

But the episode wasn't over.

Later, around 7:30 p.m., authorities said Pennington was either still sleeping or in the bathroom when the 3-year-old -- wearing only a diaper -- got into the Jeep again. This time he knocked the vehicle out of gear, and witnesses say it rolled down the street, through an intersection and into a neighbor's house, causing minor damage.

An officer found the boy on a couch watching TV cartoons as if nothing had happened, KOIN reported.

Police cited Pennington for failing to supervise a child.
