Anna Kendrick knows which Marvel superhero she should play

For A-listers these days, the superhero question is less a question of if than when -- or in Anna Kendrick's case, who.

With plenty of more films lined up to follow "Captain America: Civil War," Marvel already has a pretty deep bench of actors who've signed on to play film versions of their various comic book heroes. So it's understandable that any actor who hasn't already agreed to one would be asked about the possibility during interviews.

And "Pitch Perfect" star Kendrick, at least, is ready for such questions, as she already has a superhero in mind should Marvel come calling.

When asked by Net-A-Porter about the chance of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kendrick dropped a rather obscure reference, saying she'd be down to play Doreen Green, the superhero known as Squirrel Girl.

"My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]," Kendrick said. "I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half-squirrel, but I could be half-squirrel!"

First introduced in 1992, Squirrel Girl isn't technically half-squirrel, though she does have a prehensile squirrel tail. She also has super-strength, enhanced jumping abilities and control over hordes of squirrels. One thing she doesn't have, as far as we know, is any active development plans from Marvel's film team -- though maybe that will change now.
