Judi Dench gets a "Carpe Diem" wrist tattoo for her 81st birthday

Dame Judi Dench seized the day when she turned 81.

The Oscar-winning actress reveals to Surrey Life magazine that she got a tattoo for her birthday last December. Dench had "carpe diem" written on her wrist, and is quite pleased with the ink.

"That's my motto: Seize the day," she says of the Latin phrase. "My daughter Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday -- she's wonderful with surprises."

However, not everyone was so taken with the tat when Dench was performing Shakespeare at the Branagh Theatre in London, England. "Mind you, the company of 'A Winter's Tale,' which I was doing at the time, used to say that it said fish of the day," she quipped.

This might not be Dench's first tattoo -- or her most shocking. Upon accepting the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment at the Britannia Awards in November 2014, the James Bond star divulged that she has movie mogul Harvey Weinstein's name inked on her butt.

"Blessed Harvey Weinstein, whose tattoo I still have on my bum," she joked. "Well, he asked for that!"

Page Six reported that at a luncheon years ago, Dench told Weinstein that she "had his name tattooed on her bum because she owed her success in part to him." When he asked to see the ink, Dench reportedly flashed Weinstein, revealing that she had her makeup artist draw a "Harvey" temporary tattoo.
